Boston Realtor Building Impact Through Investment Properties – Kristina Melendez (Ep. 60)

What happens when a realtor who wants to help families is stuck competing in a crowded market?

Today on The Fairy BOSSmother Show, I met with Kristina Melendez, a Boston-based realtor who cares deeply about legacy. Right now, Christina is operating in a highly competitive market which means she’s blending in instead of building something of impact.

Can I help Kristina reposition her work so she attracts investors who want to build wealth while creating opportunities for low-income families?

Let’s meet Kristina Melendez.

Before the Fairy BOSSmother

Before we began the conversation, Kristina was already working in one of the most competitive industries and locations possible. Real estate in a city like Boston is fast-moving, saturated, and filled with agents competing for the same types of clients, often offering similar services and presenting themselves in similar ways.

At the same time, Kristina had a clear sense of what mattered to her. She wanted to help families, particularly those who might not otherwise have easy access to homeownership, and she wanted her work to contribute to something meaningful beyond a sale.

The challenge was not a lack of purpose. More like her business had not yet been structured in a way that allowed that purpose to stand out. Without a clear niche, she was operating in the same space as everyone else, which made it harder for the right opportunities to find her.

During the show

As we spoke, the gap between what Kristina cared about and how her business was positioned became more obvious. She had been approaching her work from the perspective of helping families directly, which is important, but it also placed her in a position where she was competing in a crowded, often price-driven market.

The shift in the conversation came when I reframed the problem.

Instead of focusing only on helping families buy homes, we explored the opportunity that already exists in a city like Boston, where investors are actively purchasing properties and looking for ways to generate returns.

That is where the real alignment began to appear.

By working with investors who are open to using their properties for Section 8 housing, Kristina has the opportunity to connect two needs at once. Investors are able to build assets and generate income, while low-income families gain access to stable, supported housing.

This approach doesn’t dilute her mission. It actually expands it. It also gives her a clear lane in a market where most agents are still competing broadly.

After the show

By the end of the conversation, Kristina did not need to change her values or her desire to help families. What changed was the way those values could be expressed through her business.

Instead of trying to serve everyone, she now has the opportunity to focus on a specific group of clients and a specific type of transaction that directly supports the impact she wants to create. When someone defines a clear niche, especially in a large market like Boston, they stop competing for attention and start attracting the right opportunities.

For Kristina, the path forward is not about doing more. It is about doing the right kind of work, with the right people, in a way that allows her to build both a successful business and a meaningful legacy.

You’ve just watched me help complete strangers realign their identity and step into the version of themselves they already knew was there.

Now it’s your turn.

The Personal Brand Audit is where I personally review your website, your social media, and your online presence privately and honestly. No cameras. No performance. No pressure.

I’ll show you where your brand is diluted, where you’re underselling yourself, and where the million-dollar version of you is already visible but not fully owned.

If this episode resonated, it’s probably because you know there’s more of you that isn’t being seen yet.
