What Happens When Your Mind Only Goes Quiet While You’re Creating? – Michelle Scarafile Wallace (Ep. 79)
Every Human Brand X-Ray starts with something that catches my attention.
With Michelle Scarafile Wallace, it was the way she described what happens when she paints. Her mind goes quiet.
Michelle can have a million things happening around her, walk into her studio, pick up a brush and become completely absorbed in what’s in front of her.
She called it her zen. I wanted to know more.
This Week’s X-Ray
Michelle is an artist through and through.
She’s been painting since she was a little girl, and you can hear it in the way she talks about the world around her. She notices shapes, colours, shadows and light. These aren’t things Michelle has trained herself to look for when she’s making a painting. It’s simply how she sees.
That immediately interested me because the Human Brand X-Ray is built around paying attention to the things people do so naturally that they rarely think to explain them.
Michelle’s artistic lens is always there. Then she started describing the difference between Michelle inside the studio and Michelle everywhere else.
Following the Thread
When Michelle paints, she has focus and total peace.
She can disappear into what she’s creating while the rest of the world carries on around her.
Away from the canvas, she described a very different experience. Her mind has a lot to process. There’s more noise, more information and more competing for her attention.
I became curious about the distance between those two experiences. So we followed it.
We talked about what art is actually doing for Michelle, how she experiences the world visually and whether something she has understood instinctively since childhood could tell us more about who she is today.
There was something sitting underneath her description of being an artist that I wanted Michelle to see.
I’m not going to tell you what we found because that’s the Human Brand X-Ray.
The Person Hiding in Plain Sight
This is exactly why I love these conversations.
Michelle already knows she’s an artist. She’s known that for most of her life.
The interesting part was exploring what being an artist actually means when we stop treating it purely as the thing she produces. Because Michelle’s way of seeing doesn’t disappear when she puts down the paintbrush. Where that observation led us became a much bigger conversation about the role art could play in Michelle’s life and the lives of the people who experience her work.
You’ll need to watch the episode to see what happened when we followed that thread. Watch the full Fairy BOSSmother Show episode to experience Michelle’s Human Brand X-Ray.
Your Human Brand X-Ray
You’ve watched me perform the Human Brand X-Ray on complete strangers on The Fairy BOSSmother Show.
Now it’s your turn.
During your Human Brand X-Ray, I’ll look closely at the identity you’re putting into the world, the patterns running through your story and the signals other people may already be picking up from you.
If you’re curious about what your own X-Ray might reveal, book your Human Brand X-Ray.
