How the Fairy BOSSmother Began: Episode #1
In August 2023, I introduced the internet to the Fairy BOSSmother.
The original Fairy BOSSmother Show began as a podcast and YouTube series about personal branding, entrepreneurship and the things I was noticing about how people showed up in business. It was a new way for me to bring together a background that, at first glance, didn’t necessarily belong together: diplomacy, human behaviour, first impressions, business and branding.
And this was Episode #1.
Why “Fairy BOSSmother”?
The Fairy BOSSmother became a way for me to have conversations I wanted to have without turning them into polished corporate advice. I could observe something, question it, say the quiet part out loud and use what I had learned from diplomacy and working around public figures in a completely different environment.
Back then, I described the mission largely through personal branding. I wanted entrepreneurs to understand how they were representing themselves, how other people experienced them and how they could become more recognizable.
The language and the work have evolved significantly since then.
The Show Evolved With Me
What began as conversations about personal branding gradually became much more focused on something I had been doing all along: noticing people.
I was interested in the patterns in what someone said, how they behaved, what they repeatedly communicated and what other people might be seeing that the person themselves had never noticed.
That eventually became central to the Fairy BOSSmother Show as it exists today. The show has changed format, my work has developed, and I now have much better language for what I am looking at. But Episode #1 is where the public record begins.
From Diplomacy to the Fairy BOSSmother
My diplomatic background was part of the show from the beginning. Years spent around diplomats, government officials and public figures had taught me to pay attention to people, relationships, context, first impressions and what was happening underneath the words being spoken.
The Fairy BOSSmother gave me somewhere to use that instinct publicly.
So this first episode stays here as a time capsule. It isn’t the Fairy BOSSmother Show you would encounter today. It is the beginning of it.
