What happens when a realtor plays it safe? - BeckyJean Thompson (Episode 24)

Meet residential realtor, BeckyJean Thompson. It’s easy to look at her stats and think she’s got it all figured out. In just one year, she sold 24 homes. That’s no small feat. She’s clearly good at what she does - organized, efficient, and consistent.

But when BeckyJean stepped into The Fairy BOSSmother Show, I didn’t meet a woman with big ambition. I met a woman in a professional lockdown.

From the moment we started recording, Becky had her guard up. She came in asking for Boss Mode, but Boss Mode only works when you’re willing to show the real weight of the mission.

And instead, I got the polished surface. The practiced smile. The carefully measured responses.

This was control and this was my toughest challenge yet.

Let’s meet BeckyJean Thompson.

Before the Fairy BOSSmother

BeckyJean’s business numbers were impressive. She’s clearly put in the work, and she knows how to operate under pressure. But that same strength has started to calcify into a shell, one that keeps the vulnerability, truth, and real voice locked inside.

When someone builds their entire identity around being “the professional,” they often don’t realize how much personality they’ve lost in the process.

During the show

This episode was tough for both of us. I was pushing. She was deflecting.

I was offering understanding. She was defaulting to polished responses.

There were moments I thought I could crack the shell… and then it snapped shut again.

The most frustrating part?

I could see the version of BeckyJean that was trying to break free (which happened freely as soon as the cameras were off). But she wouldn’t let her out during recording.

And here’s the thing: you can’t have a breakout moment if you’re hiding behind a mask.

After the show

To her credit, BeckyJean admitted in front of our entire business networking group that this was one of the most uncomfortable experiences she’s ever had.

That vulnerability took guts.

She admitted she doesn’t usually open up like that. She knows the result may not be pretty, but that alone shows a crack in the shell.

That’s a start.

But now we wait and see because awareness without action is just another form of avoidance.

The question is…will she put skin in the game?

Being professional won’t grow your brand. Being memorable will. Being truthful will. Letting people actually see you, that’s what scales. Big goals require more than big effort. They require emotional exposure. Inner work. And the willingness to get a little messy on the path to something magnetic.

Becky, I see you. And if you’re ready to step out from behind the polished version of yourself… That’s when the real brand building begins. Let’s see what you do next.
