Shoutout Atlanta Feature: Meet Talyn Rahman-Figueroa
In March 2024, Shoutout Atlanta interviewed me about the story behind Boss Diplomat, my journey from diplomacy into entrepreneurship, and the experiences that shaped the business I was building at the time.
Back then, I described my work primarily through the language of personal branding. Boss Diplomat was focused heavily on helping entrepreneurs bring more of themselves into their businesses and become more recognizable to the people they wanted to reach.
My work has evolved considerably since then, but reading the interview now, I can see some of the questions that would eventually lead me to my work in public identity and perception.
An earlier chapter of Boss Diplomat
One of the recurring ideas in the interview was that business owners are often too close to themselves to recognize what makes them distinctive.
My role then was to listen to their experiences, notice what they were overlooking and help them bring those elements forward. The language and services have changed since 2024, but that instinct—to notice what someone cannot easily see from inside their own identity—became an increasingly important part of my work.
Today, that observational approach sits at the heart of what I do as a Public Identity Expert and ultimately led to the development of the Human Brand X-Ray.
The Shoutout Atlanta interview captures Boss Diplomat while that evolution was still happening.
