Corporate Lawyer Redefining Her Identity - Nadine Jones (Ep. 57)

What happens when a corporate lawyer leaves her career behind and no longer knows how to describe who she is?

Today on The Fairy BOSSmother Show, I met with Nadine Jones, a former corporate lawyer who recently stepped into entrepreneurship and is now building a business of her own.

For years, Nadine’s identity was clear and defined by her role as a lawyer, but now that she’s on her own, wearing multiple hats, she’s struggling to find the words to describe who she is without a title.

Can I uncover Nadine’s identity that’s already there, so she stops searching for labels and starts owning the version of herself she’s already become?

Let’s meet Nadine Jones.

If you want me to review your personal brand (deeper, in private, and without the cameras), you can book a Persona Brand Audit here.

Before the Fairy BOSSmother

Before our conversation began, Nadine was in the middle of a major life and career transition.

She had left behind a well-defined professional identity and stepped into a space where everything felt more fluid. As an entrepreneur, she was now responsible for multiple roles at once, making decisions, building something from the ground up, and navigating a completely different way of working.

At the same time, her personal life added more layers to who she is. She has been a single mother for many years, raising her child while managing the demands of her career. She’s also stepping into a new chapter of life, including becoming a dog owner, which may seem small but represents yet another dimension of her identity.

With so many roles and experiences, Nadine found herself trying to piece together a way to describe who she is now.

The challenge wasn’t a lack of identity but rather trying to turn that identity into a label that felt right.

During the show

As we spoke, it became clear that Nadine was searching for something very specific: the right way to define herself.

She was trying on different labels, different ways of introducing herself, different ways of explaining what she does. But none of them seemed to stick.

That’s often what happens when someone is in transition. The instinct is to look for a new title to replace the old one, something that feels just as clear and recognizable as what came before.

But identity doesn’t always work that way.

The turning point in the conversation came when we stopped trying to create something new and instead looked at what was already there.

Her resilience as a single mother. Her experience navigating high-level environments. Her ability to lead, adapt, and build something new from the ground up.

These weren’t separate pieces. They were already forming a complete identity. It just hadn’t been fully seen or owned yet.

After the show

By the end of the show, Nadine didn’t need a new label. What she needed was recognition.

Instead of trying to construct a new version of herself, she was able to see that the person she was becoming already existed. The strength, the adaptability, the leadership, and the life experience were already there.

The clarity didn’t come from adding something new but acknowledging what had been there all along. When someone stops trying to reinvent themselves and instead starts owning who they already are, everything becomes simpler.

The way they speak about themselves changes, the way they show up changes, and the way others perceive them changes.

For Nadine, this wasn’t about becoming someone new but finally seeing herself clearly.
