A financial advisor opens up about OCD and identity - Hayley Rebmann (Ep. 47)
On this episode of the Fairy BOSSmother Show, I sat down with Hayley Rebmann, a financial advisor who, on paper, is doing everything “right.” She’s successful, respected, and walking a path that makes complete sense to the people around her. But very early in our conversation, it became clear that Hayley wasn’t building a life that felt fully hers. She was building a life that worked for her family, for her clients, for expectations that had quietly shaped her decisions for years.
This episode wasn’t about tearing anything down. It was about asking a question Hayley had never really been asked before: What do you want, not for other people, not for your family, not for your future clients, but for you?
Let’s meet Hayley Rebmann.

Before the Fairy BOSSmother
Before coming on the Fairy BOSSmother Show, Hayley defined herself largely through responsibility. She had stepped naturally into the financial world, following a path that felt familiar and safe, and one that mirrored her father’s legacy. Helping people mattered deeply to her. Making a positive impact, whether through financial guidance or simply showing up as someone dependable, was one of her strongest values.
But when I asked her about her own goals, separate from anyone else’s expectations, she hesitated.
That pause said everything.
Hayley had spent years orienting her life around being useful, reliable, and successful for others, without ever stopping to examine whether that version of success actually aligned with who she was becoming. Layered into this was her experience living with OCD, something she manages daily, something that shapes how she thinks, plans, and controls her environment, but something she had never fully explored as part of her identity or her future vision.
She wasn’t stuck because she lacked ambition. She was stuck because she had never given herself permission to center herself in the story.
During the show
During our conversation, everything shifted when I asked Hayley a deceptively simple question: Have you ever truly felt seen and understood for who you are, not just for what you provide?
That question didn’t open a door by accident, it directly confronted the gap between the life Hayley was maintaining and the life she hadn’t yet allowed herself to imagine. It forced her to slow down and acknowledge something she had been managing quietly for years: that her inner world, including her experience with OCD, had never been given space to inform her purpose.
We talked openly about what OCD actually means in her life, beyond stereotypes or surface-level definitions. Not as a weakness, but as a lens, one that brings intensity, structure, awareness, and depth. Instead of framing it as something to overcome or hide, we explored how it had shaped her empathy, her sensitivity to others, and her desire to create order and meaning in chaotic spaces.
That was the moment Hayley stopped answering from habit and started speaking from truth.
She began to articulate a deeper calling, one rooted not just in helping people financially, but in helping people feel safe, understood, and supported in a world that often feels overwhelming. For the first time, she wasn’t just describing what she does. She was uncovering why it matters, and why she matters within it.
After the show
By the end of the show, Hayley wasn’t walking away with a polished brand statement or a neatly packaged next step. She was walking away with something far more powerful: clarity.
She realized that her goal isn’t to simply maintain stability or continue someone else’s legacy. Her work, her voice, and even her experience with OCD have the potential to become part of a larger movement, one that normalizes inner complexity and turns lived experience into impact.
This episode marked the beginning of Hayley choosing herself, not in a selfish way, but in an honest one. She’s no longer just asking how she can help others. She’s asking how she can build a life and body of work that reflects who she truly is.
And that question changes everything.
